Program Details
Stipend Residents will be provided with financial support by SACM. SACM will determine the amount of financial support and will ensure that it meets ECFMG requirements. Hospitals do not provide stipends for any residents accepted under this program. In addition, hospitals are not responsible for payment of the cost of travel to and from the resident’s home country; living expenses (including but not limited to housing, food, and transportation); health insurance; books; and educational supplies. These expenses are the responsibility of SACM.
Evaluation Each resident will be assigned a mentor who will meet with the resident on a monthly basis to provide supervision, monitor and evaluate performance and provide a written annual progress report.
Length of Appointment Residents will be eligible for assignment for a period of no less than one year.
Visa Requirements
All positions require a J-1 visa through ECFMG. If you are a dual citizen of the United States and Saudi Arabia, this does not apply. Candidates apply for the visa after they are accepted into a medical residency program. Please do not begin the visa application process until you have received an acceptance letter for a residency position from a U.S. hospital. The J-1 visa requirements can be viewed at this website.
