The Fulbright Classroom Teacher Exchange Program
The Fulbright Classroom Teacher Exchange Program provides opportunities for teachers to participate in a direct exchange of positions with colleagues from other countries. Exchange teachers share best practices in instruction and assessment; enrich students’ knowledge of other countries; and build networks of teachers.
Participating Countries: Czech Republic, France, Hungary, India, Mexico, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom
Eligibility: Full-time K-12 teachers with a minimum of three years of teaching experience
Program Benefits: For Teachers -Increased understanding of host country, language, and academic field -Exposure to a new educational system and new teaching methods -Professional development in an international context
For Schools -Increased global awareness on the part of students -Opportunity for students to learn foreign languages from native speakers -Professional network between the U.S. and international schools
The Distinguished Fulbright Awards in Teaching Program
The Distinguished Fulbright Awards in Teaching Program provides professional development opportunities abroad for U.S. and international teachers for a period of three to six months. Teachers take classes at a host university, conduct visits to local schools, collaborate with teachers, students, and other professionals in their host country, and complete an action-based research project pertaining to their field of educational inquiry and expertise.
Participating Countries: Argentina, Finland, India, Israel, Mexico, Morocco, Singapore, South Africa, and the United Kingdom
Eligibility: Full time K-12 teachers with a minimum of five years of teaching experience. Master’s degree or equivalent required.
Program Benefits:
-Increase participants’ understanding of host country culture and society
-Broaden understanding of host country educational systems
-Expand knowledge of best practices in instruction, assessment, and technology
-Provide opportunities to create international networks of teachers
-Give teachers professional development opporunities in an international context
