Media Tools for Change

Funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID ), AED , and other partners, the Media Tools for Change Program, based in Mumbai, India, is co-implemented by Whistling Woods International (WWI) and the Academy for Educational Development (AED ).  Media Tools for Change is an exchange program bringing young media and NGO professionals to India for four-week courses on social advocacy and video production. Workshops on foundational topics such as truth and objectivity, and production ethics are paired with technical trainings on video pre-production through post-production methodologies to provide participants a theoretical and practical understanding of social media production. Site visits to Indian NGOs and media houses situate the training material in a real world context as well as foster international networks between participants and their Indian colleagues. The training culminates in hands on group projects creating social documentary shorts utilizing the training and resources gained throughout the program.
